RESUMO
Fundamento: la obra de Avicena posee una riqueza extraordinaria para estudiar los vínculos entre historia, arte y medicina, propicios para el desarrollo de una cultura general integral en los futuros profesionales de la salud. Objetivo: exponer los nexos entre historia, arte y medicina en la obra de Avicena como material de estudio en la educación médica. Métodos: se realizó una investigación documental, en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara, durante enero-abril de 2017. Se utilizaron métodos teóricos: análisis-síntesis, inducción-deducción y el histórico-lógico; y empíricos: la revisión documental, la observación de imágenes de reproducciones artísticas y el análisis literario de textos, los cuales facilitaron que se pudiera sintetizar la información y arribar a conclusiones a partir de diversas fuentes. Resultados: la personalidad de Avicena ha sido motivo de estudio por diversos autores; su genialidad le permitió incursionar en el arte, la filosofía y la medicina. Una adecuada selección de sus obras permite a los docentes vincular a sus estudiantes con la historia de la medicina antigua, motivar sus clases, ejemplificar a través de ellas el uso de los procedimientos médicos en los que prevalece la importancia de la relación médico-paciente y ofrece la posibilidad de consolidar valores morales. Conclusiones: la investigación permitió sistematizar los conocimientos de diversas fuentes bibliográficas para demostrar los nexos entre historia, arte y medicina en la obra de Avicena, susceptibles de ser aprovechados para el logro de una cultura general integral de los estudiantes de las ciencias médicas.
Background: Avicenna's work has an extraordinary richness to study the links between history, art and medicine, propitious for the development of a comprehensive general culture in the future health professionals. Objective: to present the links between history, art and medicine in the work of Avicenna as a study material in medical education. Methods: a documentary research was carried out in Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences, from January to April 2017. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and the historical-logical; and empirical ones: the documentary review, the observation of images of artistic reproductions and the literary analysis of texts, which facilitated the synthesis of information and reaching conclusions from various sources. Results: Avicenna's personality has been the subject of study by various authors; his genius allowed him to venture into art, philosophy and medicine. An adequate selection of his works allows teachers to link their students with the history of ancient medicine, motivate their classes, exemplify through them the use of medical procedures in which the importance of the doctor-patient relationship prevails and they offer the possibility of consolidating moral values. Conclusions: this research work allowed systematizing the knowledge of diverse bibliographical sources to demonstrate the links between history, art and medicine in the work of Avicenna, susceptible of being exploited for the achievement of a comprehensive general culture of the medical sciences students.
